Giles asked: I have an 18 month old mobility scooter in north London, but I am having trouble giving it away. Can anyone suggest a place, a person or an organisation that would appreciate what is an expensive piece of equipment? Thanks for your help.

You could contact your local GP Surgery as I am sure they may know someone who is desperate for a mobility scooter but cannot afford the cost. I am a Practice Manager for a GP in South London and could name you at least two people from my surgery who would jump at the chance to make their life easier and open up the outside world to them once more.

Well here in the States we have places like the salvation army, amvets, and goodwill. You should have something similar to these in London. If not, find a crippled homeless person and make his day.

set up a small obstacle course in Trafalgar square, charge disabled people and pensioners with mobility problems a small fee to complete course – person who completes course with lowest penalties and fastest time wins scooter – (who knows you might just start something big!)

Hi!
Try your local freecycle group. It’s a free online service for people who have stuff to give away.

Hope this helps!

I think maybe your local ” Dove House ” charity shop would appreciate it. It wouldn’t hurt to give them a ring.

Hi,
You could try your local Shopmobility shop. I’m sure that they would be very grateful.
